While we understand that being baptized doesn't make you a Christian, we do know that baptism is an important part of a Christian's walk of faith. It is the act of announcing to the world that you have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and are committed to an ongoing relationship with Him.

To be baptized at the Vineyard you will need to attend our Baptism Class. In this 60 minute class you will learn the significance and meaning of baptism. For your convenience, the same class is offered at four different times.

We do suggest that you come early to line up, as its first come first serve. There will be games, food and tons of fun as we celebrate Thanksgiving together!

Look for the giant Turkeys in the Vineyard Courtyard on the dates below! Grab a Turkey Tag, stop at the Kiosk to grab your orange bag, and take it home to fill the bag up!

If you have some free time on your hands, please consider helping out with the Thanksgiving Food Basket Outreach! There are lots of positions to fill, from manning the Kiosks to serving the Hotdog Meal to even becoming the Turkey mascot!

• Kiosk Workers - You are the first front of the volunteer team. Your duties will be to hand out the Turkey Tags & Bags, and register those who would like to donate.
• Turkey Mascot - You are the Turkey. No. Really, we're serious. Put on that Turkey costume and strut your stuff!
• Hotdog Meal Cooks/Servers - Just what it says. Put a smile on your face and get ready to be up to your elbows in hotdogs.
• Game Leaders - What can be better than playing games with a bunch of eager kids?
• Photo Taker - Okay, maybe taking pictures of those eager kids next to the giant Turkey's would be better.
• Turkey Handlers - This is where the action happens. You will be handing out the Turkey and all its trimmings to those waiting in that long line.
• Set Up/Tear Down Crew - You will be the muscle behind the scenes.

THE TOPICS are relevant and challenging as we discuss various issues that can help a man to be all that God has created him to be. Each message is a straightforward, no nonsense, practical Bible study.

THE FORMAT is simple: Men come together in a friendly environment for a great mansized meal followed by worship, a challenging teaching session led by one of the men from the Vineyard. Our evening closes with an opportunity for ministry time.

THE POWER of Momentum lies in bringing men together on common ground to learn together and listen to each other. Bonds of true friendships are formed as men encourage each other to more fully embrace a godly view of manhood.

THE RESULT is men connect in life-changing ways causing a powerful ripple effect touching families, workplaces, and the church. Deeper connections with God and other men inspire participants to connect more meaningfully in all facets of their lives. They climb beyond the walls of isolation and aspire to a biblical viewpoint marked by integrity, boldness, and compassion.

• Over the next few weekends you'll notice our friendly volunteers stationed at the doors to the Auditorium, purple bags in hand, before and after each service. They would love for you to take their bags!

• Take your purple bag home and fill it to the brim with non-perishable items.

• Don't let those bags get lonely, bring them to church on our Food Drive Weekends. On those weekends,simply leave your filled purple bags behind your car and one of our Team Members will pick them up!

Through the simple act of delivering Christmas gifts we have the unique opportunity to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of not only the children, but their parents as well.

The Angel Tree program begins when a prisoner registers with their prison chaplain. Our church then receives a list of families and, through the generosity of our congregation, provides each child with two gifts - a clothing item and a "fun" item.

How can I get involved?

The good news is that getting involved is easy! Whether you want to donate your time or resources, we have a place for you!

Callers - We need 10 - 15 people willing to make phone calls, at your convenience.

• If anyone speaks Spanish, we could use your help here. We call the caregivers of the children and verify their address and phone, the kids names and ages, and ask what each child would need/like for Christmas. Each child receives clothing worth $15/$20 and a fun "toy" gift for $15/$20. The calls all have to be made in a timely manner - within 10 - 14 days, depending on when I receive the list. I should receive the list by the end of October. So the calls have to be made quickly, so the Angel Tags can be written up for each gift. Even if you have never done this before, you can do it now. It just requires tact, and a prayerful attitude.

Sorting Presents - During and after 2nd service on Sunday, December 4th, we will take the presents to the Youth Building, Adult Education Rooms A & B and sort the gifts. The initial sorting takes less than 1 hour after 2nd service. Adults only - if you're interested in staying longer, we need to go through each bag and present and make sure the right presents are going with the right children/family. This portion can take 4 hours.

Gift Wrapping - This is fun! We will gather for an evening of gift wrapping in the youth building - foyer and Adult Rooms A & B on Wednesday, Dec 7, 6:30 - 8:30pm

Pancake Breakfast Party - The Angel Tree families will come on the morning of Saturday, December 10th, for a pancake breakfast. We'll also do a short show and give the childrens' caregivers the wrapped gifts to take home. We'll have a carnival-type atmosphere while they eat breakfast with activity booths, etc. We will need lots of volunteers for this event: setting up, making and serving breakfast, manning the activity booths (about 20), clean up, show actors for the skit(s), and people to pray for the attendees. Spanish speakers and interpreters are needed for this event. So, be sure you let me know if you speak Spanish!

Sunday, December 4, 12:45 pm (after 2nd service), meet in front of Christmas tree in Church Foyer. We will have a short Mandatory meeting to review for the party.

Saturday, December 10: Party is outside on the hardscape, show in the Youth bldg, activites all over the hardscape in front of youth bldg.

• Set up 6:30/7:00 am
• Families arrive and eat and play at booths 8:00 - 10:00 am
• Show starts at 11:00 am. Clean up starts outside once all the families are inside. Needs to be done by 12:30 pm
• Families should all be gone by 12:30 pm.
• Clean up inside starts when the show is over.

• You must go in pairs, so ask your spouse, etc. Its not just dropping off presents, either, but taking the time to talk to the family if they want, and being available to speak as God moves you. You may be fortunate enough to share Jesus and pray with the families. The good part about this service is that you have 1 week to do it. Pick up the presents on Saturday, December 10, at noon - 1:00 pm and you may deliver at any time that works for you and the family. Delivery will all be in the Glendale/Peoria areas, going as far south as the I-10.

Just what is Living Free?

Living Free is a program based on biblical principles designed to help individuals overcome their addictive patterns in a safe and confidential environment.

I know Living Free meets on Thursdays, but at what time?

• 7:45 pm … Open Share Groups
• 9 pm … What? It's time to go home!

What can I expect?

It depends on you! If you'd like to have time to ease into the service, please feel free to join us at 6 pm for snacks and fellowship. If you'd rather jump right in then please join us at 6:45 pm for a time of worship and teaching before breaking up into small groups where you can tackle those issues head on.

But, can Living Free really help me?

Yes! Living Free provides you with a safe place to share your experiences, strengths and hopes with others who are facing similar circumstances, including your small group leader. Since there is strength in numbers you will also have the opportunity to find an accountability partner and a sponsor.

Okay, is there anything that Living Free cannot help me with?

Since our leaders are not counselors, we will not be able to offer any professional clinical advice. If needed, however, we can provide you with a list of approved counseling referrals.

THE VISION:

In early 2007 a young college student in Phoenix had what he believed to be a vision from the Lord of 24/7, day and night, non-stop prayer happening across the state of Arizona. No one really believed it was possible but now, four years later, his vision is still igniting non-stop prayer across the entire state of Arizona!

The vision calls for 52 churches and organizations around the entire state of Arizona to each host one full week of non-stop, day and night prayer and together continue to keep non-stop prayer happening in the state of Arizona. No other state has ever attempted such a prayer meeting!

Our leaders at Vineyard Church of North Phoenix have said "Yes!" to hosting another week of non-stop, day and night prayer beginning 7 PM Friday, August 5 until 7 PM Friday, August 12.

That's 168 hours of unceasing prayer! But just as one full year of prayer is possible if each church agrees to take one week, so our 168 hours of prayer is possible if each person agrees to pray for one hour.

THE CALL:

We know that God will show up! But the question is, "Will we?"

In order to fulfill this commitment to pray without ceasing for one full week, will you help us by committing to come to the church and pray for one hour sometime during our week?

We are looking for ordinary people to join this extraordinary event by committing to pray for one hour on the day and time of your choosing; any hour, any day, day or night, whenever you are available.

We will kick things off at 7 PM on Friday, August 5 in the Middle School Auditorium with a special "Passing of the Torch" Ceremony. Representatives from the church who will be doing their week of prayer just prior to ours will be here to pass the torch to us.

We will then keep the torch burning in our prayer room for one full week and on Friday, August 12 at 7 PM we will pass it on to the next church, who will then begin their own week of 24/7 prayer. And so it will continue, in the grace of God, moving from church to church, city to city, heart to heart, just as it has, since January 2008.

We hope some of you will be able to join us for that special service on Friday, August 5 at 7 PM as we accept the torch, hear testimonies of what God has been doing, worship and pray!

WHEN:

Commit to pray for one hour anytime between 7pm Friday, August 5 and 7pm Friday, August 12

WHERE:

The event is being held at the church (Vineyard Church North Phoenix) in the Middle School Auditorium. Please see the map below for the exact location.

Please park in the far east parking lot closest to the church and enter through the Middle School Auditorium entrances (please see the map). Look for the signs directing you.

HOW:

We will have a variety of ideas and prayer resources in the room to help you pray. There will be several different prayer stations to choose from or you can come with your own prayer agenda and pray for anything you like! There will also be music available to help with your personal worship if you choose.

WHY:

We want to set ourselves and our church apart; to create a sacred space, where for just one week, our church… our people… our hearts… are reserved for prayer without ceasing because there is a unique anointing and presence when such a time and place are dedicated to prayer and we want to experience that.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Question: Can I pray from home?

You can pray from home, anytime you like! But for this event we are asking everyone who commits to pray to come to the Middle School Auditorium to pray. The reason for this is we want to create a sacred space that is reserved for prayer because there is a unique anointing and presence that comes when such a time and place is dedicated to prayer and we want everyone who comes to experience that!

Question: I've never prayed for a whole hour before. What will I do?

We will have many different prayer stations and prayer resources available in our prayer room to help you pray. Things like praying for our pastors, families, government, people you know who do not know the Lord, a place to take communion, music to help you worship and many other ways to help you spend time with the Lord.

Question: Can I pray for more than one hour?

Absolutely! You can stay longer than one hour, or show up at the same time for more than one day, or come and stay all day (or all night!) or just show up when you have some extra free time. There is no limit to how much time you can spend in the prayer room.

Question: What if someone is already signed up to pray for the time I want to pray?

The Middle School Auditorium is very large, and there will be many different areas to choose from to spend your time, so there will be plenty of space for as many people as want to pray. Please feel free to come any time that is convenient for you whether you know someone else is going to be there or not.

Question: Can I bring my kids?

Yes! Children of any age are welcome in our prayer room and we will have some special resources available especially for children. We only ask that you keep an eye on them so they do not disturb others who are there to pray.

We hope many children will be given a chance to experience our week of prayer. If they are very young and you feel you would not be able to pray the way you would like because they would require so much attention you might consider a "switch off" with your spouse or a friend and take turns in the prayer room while the other watches the kids at home. There will be no childcare provided.

Question: Can I bring a friend or relative who doesn't go to our church?

Yes! We welcome anyone who would like to come and spend some time in prayer!

Question: I would like to pray during the night but will I be safe?

We understand there are special considerations to having someone at the church during unusually late nighttime hours. We have chosen a room where the parking is very close to the prayer room door (please see the map for details), the area will be well lit and it is our intention to always have at least one male on sight at all times throughout the nighttime hours… and we will have many people praying for God's grace and protection over the entire event, but if these details do not satisfy your concerns then we definitely recommend you sign up for a daytime slot.

THE WORLD’S MESSAGES TO WOMEN

BRENDA GATLIN

At the age of 17, Brenda Gatlin had the assurance of a life-time call to ministry and has been ministering ever since. She is an extrovert who loves the church and is passionate about seeing people get on a healing path and become more like Christ. Her favorite ways to spend spare time are long talks about life and God over coffee with friends, riding her motorcycle with her husband of 25 years, Michael, and driving up the North Shore of Lake Superior singing at the top of her lungs.

For 14 years, Brenda has been a Senior Pastor with her husband, Michael, at the Vineyard Church in Duluth, Minnesota. They have three children, ages 23, 22, and 18 as well as a border collie who loves to catch frisbees. Brenda grew up in Alaska and loves the snow and cold winters of Northern Minnesota. As a graduate of the Vineyard Leadership Institute, she has spoken at multiple conferences and Vineyard churches in the US and UK.

Brenda says, "My passion is to equip and train the church to become whole and be a right reflection of who God is to the world. This involves giving ourselves to the ministry of the Holy Spirit, letting God heal us, and then getting up and walking in the gifts that He's given us, being exactly who He created us to be."

PRAYER EXPERIENCE

The pre-conference prayer experience changes each year and is a self-guided journey through scriptures to increase intimacy with the Lord through sight, sound and touch.

We would like to do an outreach as part of the Women's Conference by collecting the items below for Single Moms' Spa Day where over 200 single moms are blessed each spring. Thank you in advance for any item you can bring with you to the conference.

• Small gift card for blessing the moms (like $5 for gas, McDonalds, etc.)

Empowered Families is designed specifically for those who want to build strong families and connect with others in order to learn and grow in all areas of family life.

Empowered Families will provide a safe place to share experiences, struggles and joys with others who are on the same journey.

Empowered Families Empowered Families offers solid, spiritual training for marriage and/or parenting in a large group format, as well as small group teaching, that are targeted to specific needs.

Empowered Families offers children's classes, nursery thru grade 5, available for a nominal fee.

Empowered Families meets at the church on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday nights from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

These teams have no meetings to attend. No one will call you. Team members receive email updates of prayer requests and pray from home as the Holy Spirit leads.

Our pastors understand that prayer is an important part of all that goes on in the Kingdom of God! For this reason they invite you to look over the different areas of ministry listed below and sign up to be part of the team that prays for the ministries you care the most about.

These teams have no meetings to attend. No one will call you. Team members will receive email updates of prayer requests and pray from home as the Holy Spirit leads.

Your commitment to pray will be through August 2012. At that time you may allow your commitment to end, renew it for another year, or change your selected ministries.

In September you will begin receiving the prayer updates for your selected ministries.

Regardless of your calling or gift mix, the grace of prayer is fundamental to all that takes place in the Kingdom of God. I encourage you to ask God what part He might have for you in praying for the ministries which most interest you.

Most of our Blended Frozen Mocha drink recipes have been created by our own volunteers; like the Diamondback Mocha, Orange Dreamsicle, Chocolate Covered Chocolate...just to name a few.

so you want to be a leader at the vineyard?

The Bible says that leadership in the church is a great work for a person to aspire to! [ I Tim. 3:1 ]

We're glad you are pursuing leadership here at the Vineyard because we know that our church will only be as strong as the leaders in it. Therefore, we take leadership development very seriously.

one

Take the Newcomers' class and become a member of VCNP. We look at our membership as a sort of team roster, people who can be counted on to "do the stuff" in ministering to people.

Become a regular, consistent, attender at VCNP. This is very important because that is the only way you will know the direction the church is moving. We find that if everyone is pulling in the same direction, we make the most progress in doing what God would have us do as a churchbody.

Join a small group and become an integral part of it. Almost all of our leaders come from our small groups. This is where people use their spiritual gifts to minister to others. It is also where we get to see how consistent, faithful and gifted for ministry a person is. A commitment to Jesus also means a commitment to His people!

If you are not sure about what spiritual gifts you have, take the "Discovering Your SHAPE for Ministry Class" to discover areas where God may have gifted you for ministry. We believe that God has a plan for everyone and we want to equipyou to fulfill that plan.

Begin serving in a ministry here at VCNP. We believe that God has a ministry for every single person at the Vineyard, and only when everyone is doing what God has gifted them to do will this church be all that it can be.

Take the "Ministry Training" class. This class is an overview of what the Bible teaches about how to pray for and minister to others. This class is mandatory for anyone interested in leading in any capacity at VCNP.

Begin tithing 10% of your income to help fund God's work through VCNP. Over the years we have found that money is a god in America and tithing helps to break the hold that money has on people. We feel strongly that tithing is an important discipline for any Christian to develop, but even more so if you are a leader.

Take the "Small Group Leadership Training Class." This class focuses on what a Christian leader looks like and also on the nuts and bolts of leading people God's way.
